• to the team at Agents of Discovery on the signing of their new, long term license agreement with Tyler Technologies Inc to market AoD's proprietary, augmented reality based, educational gaming platform to the public sector in the US and worldwide.

• to our colleague Ralph Stirling on his recent appointment to the position of Associate Professor at the Edward F. Cross School of Engineering, Walla Walla University in Washington State, USA.

  Ralph is the Founder and CEO of TERMSystems, a company focused on the design of modular systems for producing synthetic scaffolds used in a wide range of tissue-engineered biomedical products. His scaffold production process is currently patent pending.

• to the team at DynaGenium Bioimplants for the successful filing of the non-provisional patent for their novel surgical medical implant devices. The filing was undertaken by the patent agent team at Altitude IP.

• to the young, entrepreneurial team at BioBox for officially filing their Trade Mark registration with the Intellectual Property Office. The documentation was prepared and filed by our partners, McLeod Law.

to the Rotary Club of Canmore for their generous Community Grant funding in support of our 2023 Tech Education Programs for kids, youth and adults.

to the team at Cybera-Callysto, our gracious host CanMore Together and our program sponsors Rotary Club of Canmore, for collaborating with us to deliver the recent very successful Hackathon for Grades 5-12 students in the Bow Valley.

The program provided students with code-based challenges featuring open data, while developing programming, computational thinking and data analysis skills.

Additional programs in the Hackathon Series are planned for later in the year.

2023 Federal Budget Highlights

The Honourable Chrystia Freeland, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, delivered the 2023 Federal Budget (Budget 2023), entitled A Made-In-Canada Plan, on March 28, 2023.

The measures announced focus on economic growth, public healthcare, and significant investments to incentivize businesses to reduce their emissions and become leaders in the global clean economy. 

There were a significant number of tax measures included in this budget, as well as items for future review or consultation. Below are the tax highlights from this year’s announcements.
